Mark sits as an independent non-executive director of companies, charities, educational institutions and NGOs big and small around the world. Given his background in transformation at pace, and his executive roles in multinationals and Government entities, he is aware of the need to focus on board matters, and not stray into ‘executive direction’, providing an independent view that is removed from the day-to-day running of the organisation. Mark brings independence; impartiality; wide international experience; special legal, governance and regulatory knowledge; and drive to a board. Mark regularly provides counsel, and different perspectives, on matters of concern to a Chair or CEO, whether during or outside of the Board and sub-committee meetings. In particular, Mark works with the executive team to:

Provide strategic direction
Monitor performance of the executive management
Determine appropriate levels of remuneration
Act as an Ambassador and connector
Advise on risk mitigation strategies
Ensure that the accounts present a true and fair reflection of the organisation's actions and financial performance
