As I begin my next chapter as a Shanghe CNISCO Scholar at China National Institute for SCO International Exchange and Judicial Cooperation (CNISCO) at the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (SHUPL), I am filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement.
My journey into academia and research is driven by a passion to explore the interplay between law and emerging technologies. Lecturing at SHUPL presents a unique platform to engage with bright, inquisitive minds eager to explore and understand the nuances of legal frameworks in the digital age. The dynamics of law, coupled with the fast pace of technological innovation, present endless avenues for exploration, debate, and enlightenment.
My research, particularly in the realms of law and artificial intelligence, will be a cornerstone of my tenure as a Shanghe Scholar. The fusion of these disciplines is not just academically appealing but crucial for the evolving legal systems worldwide. Artificial intelligence challenges traditional legal paradigms, from privacy and data protection to intellectual property and beyond. At SHUPL, I will delve into these challenges, offering insights and forging pathways that resonate within academic circles and influence policy and practice.
Beyond lecturing and research, this role promises the chance to contribute to a broader academic community that is diverse and future-thinking. Collaboration with fellow academics, engaging with students, and participating in a thriving intellectual ecosystem will be integral to my time with SHUPL. This role will encompass everything from mentoring new legal and AI enthusiasts to participating in symposiums that bridge the discipline and Chinese culture.
My goals at SHUPL for this year are clear. I aim to inspire and be inspired, to learn as much as I teach, and to contribute to a future where the law not only keeps pace with technology but also guides it. The journey ahead at SHUPL, with its blend of lecturing, research, and community engagement, promises to be a milestone and an adventure in the academic world.
